Paph.-Pinocchino in bloom

I have two Pinocchino-paph.s. The oldest one has bloomed 14 times and the other has bloomed 11 times.How long will these spikes produce blooms? The oldest one has started a new spike.Should I cut off the old spike or just let it be? I want to keep these guys happy. Any info you have would be helpful.Thanks Rich

I let my second spike grow with the first. Now both are in bud and the first seems much smaller than expected, and like an old man, the stem is spotted and thin.I guess it is almost done but I don't plan to cut it off until it tells me to.

I would cut it and let the plant rest. It must be exhausted.

I don't grow paph's in particular...however... IMHO As long as the plant seems to be thriving and healthy. If it isn't declining as the plant continues blooming....and the flowers aren't getting smaller and smaller.... Let it bloom. Some orchids are bloomers and others are slowpokes that bloom once a year if ever. As many have told me before on here...if it ain't broke don't change anything. Just consider yourself lucky to have one of the bloomers...they are great fun to grow. They make it all worth it...

Hi Rich,

I would make my decision based on the health and vigor of the plant. If the plant seems healthy and is growing well, leave it be, though it has bloomed a lot! If you start to notice a slow down of growth, then cut the older one off. Best of luck!

good job growing! I can't seem to keep my pinocchio in bloom that long.
Yup I would decide based on how fast the plant is growing too.
