Lc Rojo now Sophranthe Rojo

I bought the plant last May. It's a good size orchids in 5" pot with 10 pbulbs, but I didn't find any old spikes. So this is the first bloom from the plant. I wish I had more than single spike with 3 buds, but I am really happy about the color. Maybe it will produce more spikes next year.

Wow, what a bright colored little guy! Lovely job with that one...I have a tough time with the smaller catts...you obviously have the touch though!

That is beautiful! I updated the thread title since the name of this orchid changed. I looked it up earlier today for another thread and still had the note pad open on my desktop. LOL. Anyway the new name including the parents is: Sophranthe Rojo (Guarianthe aurantiaca x Sophronitis milleri)

I love the color of those buds, beautiful and so ... well ... red!
I always toyed with the idea of getting a LC Rojo but I picture those plants to get really big and I have little growing space!

A beauty! And, yes, you can see the (Guarianthe) aurantiaca in its coloring, as well as the influence of the (Sophronites) milleri. As an aside, I think of all the tricks taxonomists have played on us, moving milleri to Sophronites from Laelia was especially cruel!
