Uh-oh...will this flower last?

For some reason, the anther cap (green arrow)on a newly-opened flower is missing, exposing the pollinia (blue arrow). Does this mean the flower won't last long, or does the loss of the anther cap cause any effect at all? It's a newly opened flower and I want to see it for as long as possible...

Note: The picture below shows a normal flower, without anything missing, of course.

I've never had that happen, but, to my knowledge, it's only when the pollinia get removed that the flower fades rapidly. If it's just the anther cap, you should be ok--the flower should last as long as normal.

Definitely post back on this though, with what happens. I'm really curious to know.

I'm keeping a close eye on the flower. Okay, you're right, Louis! The orchid still looks fresh and definitely isn't "fading rapidly". . I guess I got a bit worried.

It's been open for only about four days, but I'll post if the flower wilts or something...
