Den. kingianum - back from the dead?

Looks like my crazy experiment it worked. Not complete water cultlure but kinda. A new growth has started from one of the nodes on the old cane. I had it on top of a soaked towel and some sphag on top of the cane. I've just removed the towel as it was kinda yucky so now it's just the sphag. Hopefully it's going to pull through.

That is great, Richard. I hope it pulls through. It will be a long time before it will be ready to bloom, but hopefully you saved it!!

Congrats, Richard! You did very good! In a couple of months you will have a good size baby. I have several p-bulbs that I was experimenting with and I also got a little babie from one of them. Now that it's out it will grow faster.

I have alot of little dens growing on sticks that were once healthy plants I killed. lol You'll love growing them like this...they do great. And, you get them used to your methods as they grow instead of the perfect environment of a greenhouse somewhere. So far my keikei's from dendrobiums are the toughest baby plant I've found.

Here's an update on this den. It looks like it's getting happy again. It will be a long time before I see any flowers but at this point I'm just happy to keep a den alive.

Well Done Richard... and kingianums are pretty quick to bloom from being a keiki.. once it is strong enough I bet it will provide you with it's delicious perfume!
