    Default Cyc. Robert Dickow

Here is another first-bloom cycnoches seedling. Even this one has only a flower count of 2 for this first bloom, the blooms are large, thick, and waxy!

Cyc. Robert Dickow is (haagii x warscewiczii)

Cycnoches have been easy to grow indoors and would make a nice novelty addition to any slipperhead collection!

This one has been open for two days. No scent yet and I'm sampling it day and night. None on the Jean E. Monnier yet either.

Very cool. I'm guessing those must be the male flowers?

What a beauty! But it does have a scent, yes?

That's a very cool flower, Garland. Do you have a shot of the whole plant? The closeups don't always give the scale and overall feel.

YES, this plant does now have a scent both day and night. It is a sweet, spicy, "clean" scent...maybe a bit of wintergreen crossed with clorox! The scent is getting stronger as time goes on.

I have confirmed that these are indeed MALE flowers. Both blooming cycnoches have male flowers. I under the "swan's neck" on the male flowers is long and skinny while on the female flowers the "neck" is much shorter and thicker. (Enough cycnoches sex talk.)

I will take a photo of the whole plant shortly. It is blooming in a 3 1/2" pot. I just moved it up from a 2 1/2" pot a few months ago. I didn't realize these plants will bloom so young. I understand from the breeder that 2-5 flowers on the first bloom is normal. He had not bloomed one of these on such a small growth before and was surprised.

I have another new cross about to bloom. I'll post next week when it opens. It has 12 large buds on it. Looks like they are going to be mustard color blooms.

Per request, here is the photo of the whole plant. I'm already looking forward to the next blooming!!!

Oops, doesn't look like the server wants to take this photo right now. I'll try again later.

Louis, is something up with the photo-upload engine?
