    Default cattleya dendrobium and oncidium

    Hi:

I'm keeping my promise to Amey and Rosalia to send some photographs.

These are a few of my orchids. Despite of my brown thumb, these are, or were in bloom over the last three months.

I am using Bruce's quick method for attaching photos so I cannot include more than four photos in one post. Thanks Bruce. I"ll try to do at least two more postings tonight.

Very nice pictures Dail ! Those towering inflorescences on the Laelia are stunning. Your dendros also look happy and healthy. If you can have these to bloom for a couple of months you sure have a green thumb.
In the picture of your Catt, there seem to be a lot of mineral deposits on the leaves. If your water is hard, do not spray the foliage with that water. You can try and clean the mineral deposits by wiping the leaves with a clean wipe dipped in 1:100 diluted orange juice, lemon juice or coke. Wipe it gently and then wash the plant throughly with distilled water after about half an hour to remove any stickiness. You will have to repeat it atleast two or three times before you get nice shining foliage. But do not over do it or you might scratch the foliage, do it only once a week for the first two weeks, and then once or twice a month.

    They are so lovely!
Hi Dail, I have been to Jamaica many times and stayed at silversands by Duncans bay. Where are you about in Jamaica? Have you ever seen Neocogniauxia monophylla in its natural habitat?

    Hi Tom:

Duncan's Bay is on the north coast and most of my time is spent on the south coast. I have never been fortunate enough to see the neocogniauxia in its natural habitat. Perhaps when I have that elusive long vacation, I'll go hunting for it.

Since you have visited Jamaica so often you'll understand when I say "Walk Good."

    Walk good,
    Dail

Thanks for the tip, Amey. We do have hard water but in this instance the white spots were from some new treatment I was trying out.

If my colleagues could hear you, they would tell you that you are coulor blind. They constantly tell me that I have a brown thumb. Good thing, I'm hard of hearing at convenient times.

Wow, that is a long spike. Very pretty flowers. Thanks for sharing. Where can I find the quick method for attaching photos ? I want to start posting pics this weekend. Am getting so much enjoyment from seeing everyone blooms.
