Vanda/Kagawara

As promised here is a foto of another kagawara; Kgw Dinesh Gold.The flower is not as round as Christine Low;is orangish in colour and has bold spots but unfortunately it is not as robust a grower as Christine. As I have mentioned earlier it is sulking and I have decided to repot it and hope for the best. Any suggestions from vandaceous growers?

Gosh, that is stunning, Yew. We grow all of our vandas (and their kin) in wooden baskets with lava rock. They seem to do very well and appreciate lots of regular water and then drying off each week.

Thanks, Bruce. Will try the lava rock.We grow our strap-leaved vandas in plastic or terracotta pots without any growing medium and as for the rest of their kin with broken bricks and charcoal. Work very well except for Kgw Dinesh Gold! That's why I used the word 'sulking' or should it be 'recalcitrant'? Maybe the lava rock will do the trick. Will ask around to see where I can get it in my area.

Well i grow my vanda bare root in a vanda hanger, and they are doing really well. But you have to give them lots of water, and i mean a lot. Anyways, lava rock and charcoal
should do the trick as well for potted vandas, diatomite is another good option.
