I have a small oncid mounted on corkbark which is now falling apart, How do I remount it without injuring the roots?

I have a small oncid mounted on corkbark which is now falling apart, How do I remount it without injuring the roots?
I usually order a tree fern raft and attach the plant with some florist wire. Once the new roots are firmly attached to the tree fern, you can remove the wire.
thanks for the reply but what do u do with a stick mount ( small tree branch)tDo you attach the entire rotting stick to a new mount or must you remove the plant from the old mount first? If so, how do you accomplish this without harming the roots?
Typically, if the branch is rotting the plant will come away from mount pretty easily. Give a good soaking and see if comes off by tugging gently.
