Default Question about best plants for my room

I thought I would lean on the experience of our members that grow inside a "controlled environment". I am keeping the room at 80-83F during the day, although some overcast days leave it at a high of 73F. At night I am able to keep the lowest temp around 61-63, although on warmer evenings it may stay as high as 68. My humidity is hovering around 50-60%, up to 80% after the misting unit is turned on.
Having said all that, this is my question: What plants should I concentrate on? So far I am having great success with my Phals, my smaller catts (for a change) are thriving, even the larger catts are throwing the nicest roots. But my Vandas are so not doing good. They keep developing a black mold around the base. I'm wondering if the living room wasn't better for my oncid types, as since the move they have stopped doing well.
I would so appreciate some help...i'm thinking about reorganizing and some of my problem plants will get listed on the Bidz site here, some possibly soon. I thought I was doing so well with the front porch, moving them indoors has brought me a whole new set of problems though. I have been trying to keep the fans running while the misting/high humidity is going on...maybe I need another fan or two???
Thanks in advance for the advice....sometimes I feel completely stupid even after all the studying i've done the last three years. Guess maybe I should have taken a few more courses in stuff like Botony!

Sounds like a good environment for the Oncidium/Brassia types that I grow, I wonder why they are not doing well....

Here's some shots in the dark: What kind of light are they getting now comparatively? Is there a difference between the light they get in the new room and the previously used living room? Is there a difference in air circulation/air flow, you could have a lot more moisture in your plants/pots- your watering habits could be better for a room with 25% humidity. You might need to back off the watering, maybe?

I have been also doing well in an Orchid room with one window, slightly open, to get some fresh air in, two fans set at high level, a heater for winter, and a misting unit that I control to give me around 70% in the winter and about 85 to 95 % in the hot summer days. I also use supplementary lighting, especially in the summer as I do get less light from the window I have been successful with phals, paphs, and oncidiums so far.
I think your main problem is getting enough circulation. personally, I keep the mister off at night but keep the fans on. If you are switching the mister off at night, and I still imagine that you will still have high humidity, being in Florida, might be the problem.

I hope what I wrote made some sense to you Connie

The mister is only on long enough to get the humidity up to 80%...which takes about 5-10 minutes. It also waters the rhychostylis, and other basket types...well and the nepenthes. Unless it gets really warm, I only mist once a day.
The back window got alot of sun and little air movement. I've moved them to a little higher shelf, out in the room, to see if it will help.
