evrywhere i looked, i read that paph media should never run dry and that paphs in natural habitat grow on rocks. doesn't rocks have low ability to hold water, meaning the plant media drys out quickly having periods the plant roots are dry?

That's a good point, but i think they usually grow in the detritus (debris) that accumulates in the crevices of rocks.
i agree with michael and dont forget the high humidity in their natural habitat.
i've seen even phals and erias growing on rocks!
