Laelia purpurata question

My purpurata opened its flowers this morning and I was delighted, but my delight turned into alarm during mid day when I saw the flowers seems to be curling. Why? is it too hot? its about 27Celsius outside, will it improve tomorrow?

I was going to waity for a day or two before taking pictures but then this thing happened.

See the edges of the petals are curling...


and the dorsal sepal bent forward when it was curled back just an hour ago.

Every Laelia, Cattleya or Sophronitis species as well as their hybrids need 2 or 3 days to fully open and stabilize their flowers in to the final position.
If after 3 days the flowers are twisted or curled you may have not perfect plane flowers which is coming from the genetic background. Or the environment and the growing conditions wasn't good enough for your plant this year. In the second case you may get better shaped flowers next year or the years to come.

Thank you, Horst. Yes, the flowers are looking better today, although the lips are not as full as I expected. I'll post photos at the Cattleya section later.
