Default New indoor house design with Phalaenopsis's

The reason I began to search out information on Phalaenopsis was because of this design. As I am buying some to have as plants, i have been keeping my eyes open for this thing to be manufactured. But with research of the flower i haven't seen much information about them growing in water. How long would they last in pure water?

Also...I'd presume that it would be great breeding ground for bugs and the water would also eventually become nasty? What do you guys think?

Hello Michael. You might want to take a look at this older posting about Water Culture.I think that there is about 5 or 6 posts on growing in water. I hope this helps. Good Luck,Rich

Yea i kinda glanced over that post earlier. I'm not sure if im just bad @ using the search option or what but another 20minutes didnt show up any other posts.

With this model i'd assume it would be pretty hard to change the water and as miki mentioned he changes it when it starts turning green (offering enough time for some bugs to lay eggs and hatch).

Has anyone else tested water growth with phals? Do phal's blooms last longer too or no?

Also, are they normally grown from water or were they slowly transitioned into the water?

Check the tags, Michael. Water Culture might pull up some other threads on the subject.

I highly doubt that the plants were growing on that wall to begin with. They were probably planted there temporarily as a floral arrangement (to be thrown out afterwards). There isn't adequate light to bloom them

But neat set up anyway, Phals could be grown that way.

It was an interior designed item that i'd assume would be put near a window. There is a fan on the bottom of the machine that send air from the bottom up, or something like that. I'd presume that it would not work there the entire time. But if the product is ever made, customers that ordered it would never know (as i didn't).

Cool idea! Unusual. And still a harmony of colors.
