    Default Angraecum sesquipedale

After many years of trying, I have finally flowered one of these. No other Ang's have given me so much trouble. A first flowering seedling, its parents are awarded clones here.

I bought one a few months ago...it died pretty fast. I was not happy...looks like you've got the hand for them. I don't know if i'm as patient as you though...lol....great job!

Thanks Connie, Ang's are one of the few orchids I haven't killed, hopely I don't. Even without what some would call the correct environment for these I've not had a problem growing them, just flowering this one.

Nice flower Roy ! I see you have potted yours in charcoal. From what I have read Ang. sesquipedale grows in humus cover on rocks, so mine is in a more moisture retentive mix, which is a mixture of fine charcoal (0.5 inch) cocopeat and perlite and my plant is loving it, it is also planted in a pot which would be considered big for this kind of potting medium. It has put up 4 huge leaves since December when it was repotted in India.

Always love seeing this one. Plant gets far too large though for me to try.

Amey, the photo is misleading. The plant is growing in coarse orchid bark. The roots are coming out thru the drainage holes and are all thru the mix. It doesn't get time to get actually dry as I water too often for that to happen. It could probably do with a larger pot but while its growing so well I'm reluctant to shift it, not till the warmer weather comes anyway.
