Pregnant Phal

A few months ago I made my first attempt at cross polinating two of my phals (one with light yellow petals and a pink lip, one with white petals and a pink lip). The plant is doing well and the seed pod is really swollen and it is very green. I plan on sending it to a flasking lab when it is mature. My question is: how long until the seed pod is mature and how will I be able to tell that it is mature? Since it is doing so well, I don't want to make the mistake of cutting it off of the plant too soon. Thanks!

Okay, since I started my thread this afternoon I did some more research online regarding my little baby seed pod. Do any of you have experience working with Troy Meyers' conservatory/lab? I think that my seed pod will be ready in a few months when I see a little split in it. Anyone else got any other advice or recommendations on labs to send my baby to? Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update and let you know that I found a good lab to send my seed pod to. It arrived safely and was flasked this week. I will have lots of babies to share with you once the little seedlings have been sent to me

i think a seedpod of a phalaenopsis will take from 6-9 months till its ready, i'm not sure if this is right but i remember reading it somewhere. GOod luck and hope you get a lot of baby plants =)

Thanks to both of you. I was glad to hear that my seed pod arrived to the lab safely. I'm excited that I get to name it too. Yes, it does take quite a few months but I'm sure that it will be well worth the wait

I had to give it a four letter name for the lab's ID for now so I called it COCO, after my little Pomeranian but I plan on extending the name. Since there are so many thousands of different crosses, I figure that there's probably already one named COCO. Anyone got any cool names for me and the "little ones"?

Hmm...with it being a cross between a white and yellow with pink lips...the first thing I thought of was lemon meringue pie...or maybe something to do with Angels' wings?? It must be exciting...this whole process. Good Luck!
