Default Finally saw it: Dendrobium amboinensis

Been getting up early such that I would see this one flower: and staying up late. Did not quite know when it would flower, but I have ALWAYS missed it before!

The flowers open at dawn and stay open for a few hours only. Although the plant has flowered before, I have never seen it.

And it is a pain taking good pictures because the flowers open downwards, the wind was going outside and the flowers are all over the place and the light is poor when the flowers open.

I can imagine what a joy has been in your home
Would be really pity to miss again such a beautiful flower so your "guard" is rewarded. And what a pity too that this beautiful flower last only a few hours. BTW - the photos are great!

Worth all the wait and the trouble photographing it. Great photos. I know how difficult it is to take photos of white blooms and to do so with the breeze blowing too..... Good technique.

Beautiful flower! I fully agree with Branka -- such a shame the flowers are so short-lived
