Default The Joy of Phal equestris

I happen to love Phal. equestris and have a collection of them within my orchid collection. What's not to love-they seem to be in bloom all the time and are great at multitasking-blooming and growing keikis all at the same time . I call them the Energizer Bunnies of the orchid world.

Here are some currently in bloom:

Lovely alba form in close to full bloom

Another almost alba-tends to have some yellow on lip and more yellow around the callus

A keiki from my very first equestris. It is peloric. The mother plant is also in bloom and has been in bloom for over a year

    More typical form

They stay in bloom that long for you? I still don't do well with the phal specie types. Maybe i'll start a Phal area somewhere. I don't think they like all the heat and sun my other plants enjoy.

Nice Plant and very robust blooms...

Apparently, Phal equistris has very enduring blooms. Here's my version of the plant...

    Phalaenopsis equistris var aurea

All very nice equestris... the best thing about this is that they never seem to run out of
    blooms.

I love the peloric form and your alba is really nice.

Can you send me a keiki of your peloric form? That's a rarity around here and sure would love one for my collection. Hehehehe ...... ;D

It does depend on the plant. Some seem to be in bloom all the time. Others are more seasonal or just do what they want, when they want. Yes, they probably won't like really high light or high heat, but do like to be on the warm side. That's why they seem to be ideal inside plants.

I would if I could. I do have another keiki coming on the mother plant.

Now that I see it and know that it stays in bloom so long, I want one too. Just what I needed, another one on the got to get list.
Is there a particular one you like? I have extras now and coming that I would be happy to send to you. I have a blooming size one of the typical forms that is living on it's own and could be sent now. It is not blooming at the moment. There are also keikis coming along on the "almost alba" and the peloric. Those may need to wait until next spring since they are still fairly small and winter weather could be a problem for shipping over the next few months. No keikis yet on the alba. That one I haven't had as long.
