Bulbophyllum lepidum 2010

Here is a cute bulbophyllum orchid blooming for us. I repotted this orchid in 2006 and it has completely taken over its pot. The blooms are so small, I often don't see them until they are almost finished. This time, I found a few blooming and in bud so I get to enjoy them. Anyway, here it is:

You know, I have no idea. I cannot remember ever smelling it. Never crossed my mind to see if it has a fragrance. hmmm?

I like this ; I thought I had got this species - the name is so familiar, but I don't remember the flowers.
Perhaps - I have thought this for a few years now - I should buy a new set of labels, a different colour - perhaps purple or something , and just stick one in a pot when the plant flowers, and then after a few years go round looking to see which plants are just passengers and never pay for their keep - no purple label ! I guess in any good-sized collection there will be a few ! And if not in yours, then there are in mine.

Beautiful Bruce! In the first picture I thought the buds hadn't opened. In the following perspectives I see how gorgeous the flowering is. The leaves looks very lush and healthy too. The foliage on many plants is my favorite part, even if the blooms are insignificant or absent. I consider it a bonus.

Nice flower Bruce. In it's natural habitat, it would hv covered a tree trunk. Try it on a small piece of tree trunk .
