Miltoniopsis Dumas Bay x Hanover 'Red Flash'

I've always liked this one because it stays so short - only about 7 inches tall. It should be a fuller plant, but a squirrel pulled it out of its pot, chewed it up, and tossed it in the sun to bake last summer. They're sooooo cute!!

I was surprised to get these two flowers this year.

For a plant that got chewed up last year, that one looks great. Bulb and leaves fat and healthy--cool flowers, too!

Nice one, Kev! Especially for squirrel bait. The compact flowers are neat. They're very similar to my politically incorrect (for me) Milt. Ronal Regan: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...ead.php?t=1926. Which is only just now dropping it's blooms.

Are yours fragrant? Mine were incredibly so in the early morning. I'd wake up and smell them from the next room! By afternoon they shut their smell engines down. Keep the furry brethern from these - they're too special!

Do you know much about judging milts? As I'm comparing Kev's to mine I notice his have much flatter flowers. I know that's desirable in phals. Does the same hold true in milts? All of my blooms were quite cupped.

Actually, I should have waited a day to take this pic. The flowers just opened today and still are not real flat. It does have a wonderful rose/peony fragrance. I just love these plants more every year.
