    Default Vanda NOID

    This is one of my earliest acquisitions, almost 2 years ago. Back then (and nothing changed still) whenever something catches my eye in an orchid show, I try to buy it (if I can afford if of course ) but tags weren't that important to me and I take the word of the sellers. This one, I remember the vendor displaying one which is a beautiful violet color which is only for display and the ones he is selling are not in bloom but the same orchid flowers and all according to him. Anyway I took one home and after almost 2 years it turns out to be yellow, but nonetheless beautiful I think. Any help with the tag will be deeply appreciated

    That is a real beauty Carl. Incidentally I saw an almost similar plant at one of our shows and was very tempted to buy but the price was rather steep.The vendor also did not know the name beyond saying that it is V denisoniana cross.

    Wonder if it is Ascda Crownfox Yellow Sapphire? Maybe something similar? Don't have Orchidwiz with me to look it up.

    It is a beautiful orchid though!! Hope you are not too disappointed that is is yellow. Now you can get that violet one to grow and bloom next to this one and really have a show!

    I looked it up - the pics in Orchidwiz show two cvs, both a more perfect flower - well-overlapped petals and sepals. The one which is nearer in colour also has an orange patch at the base of the lip. An element of doubt then....


    Whatever it is I really covet it !

    I am sorry that I can not help with a name for your orchid, but that yellow has a vivid shine to it and Bruce is right: the violet ascocenda/vanda should be next on your shopping list. Happy New Year! AL
