I would begin with a base of charcoal, small to medium wood chips on top of that, sphagnum on top of that. For lighting I would use T5 bulbs. The misting would be nice but you would have to be very careful of too high humidity. I think a mini fan would be essential. That is where I get hung up - trying to find the little fan. Also, I would add some branches to allow tying small plants on to, make several levels of growing space. You make me want to start one as well.......
Not that hard to find, Don. Computer fans work quite well. The ones in my 90 gal are all "recycled" from PCs that had up and died. The fans are run 24/7 and have been running for several years now. A computer repair shop would likely have them. You could also check on Freecycle or other such.
Hey Drew, I think there is a thread on here somewhere where a member posted photos of his process building a terrarium and all the supplies he used. Cannot remember who posted it or I would just link you to it, but if you do a search, you will most likely find it.
I am looking forward to hearing what everyone who grows in this type of setup has to say.
Cheers,

Not sure how to wire them, from 110 to 12 volt..........
I just used a variable AC/DC adaptor.
