    Default Epidendrum macrostachium in situ - Ecuador

    I went on an orchid tour yesterday with Gilberto Merino. We went to one of the orchid reserves, and on the way, we stopped several times to look at various plants. This Epidendrum was at very high altitude (over 2000 meters) where it was chilly and misty. The petals and sepals are almost black.

    I love in situ pictures and that black epidendrum sure is unusual.
