Help: NOID

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted (one word: infants), but I wanted to see if anyone knows what kind of orchid this is... or if it's even an orchid. The leaves are succulent like, and there seems to be a dried spike cut short - which leads me to believe it's an orchid. I just have NO idea what kind?!

Any help is appreciated. I've had it for a few months in a west facing window to be safe, and it seems to be growing nicely, if not slowly. It's in Sphagnum at the moment.

Looks like an oncidium alliance orchid to me, perhaps a tolumnia.

the tolumnia orchid ID is looking very promising. Maybe I can care for it properly now THanks Everyone.

I agree, I think it looks like a tolumnia, I have one and it looks just like it!

My Tolumnia Golden Sunset Red is very similar. The leaves on mine are a bit sharper on the edges. I have had mine for about 9 months and no flowers or spike. I have been advised that it need much more light than my east window with a screen on it.

Looks like a Tolumnia, though the leaves are more succulent than the type. Maybe a cross with a Rodriguezia. Tolumnias like to dry out quickly after watering. I grow mine mounted or in small open plastic pots with just a few pieces of charcoal to help them to dry up faster.

i would disagree. Sarcochilus of some sort.....is it monopodial? has it flowered before? were the flowers about the size of a penny? infact your thumbnail....thats a better gauge lol Most sarcs have flowers that size and the plants are very similar.....they blooms are usually white, sometimes with a ripple textured red centre....

Hey all, thanks for the replies. This one has been growing nicely over the past year, but no blooms yet, so I can't use the flowers to ID it. I'm hoping this year I'll be able to put of a pic of it blooming.

Definitely looks like my tolumnia. I grow mine in an east window, gets morning sun. Planted in orchid bark and charcoal. I've had it about 4 yrs and it is a prolific bloomer, usually with multiple spikes and long lasting blooms. Good luck.
