I'd have to second the above comment...I was expecting a pretty green flower. Someone must have really loved their green firebird car! lol But the flower is still a pretty one.

I think maybe the leaves. They are a brighter green than the rest of my Phals.......And the flowers are a deeper red than shown.(Maybe I should'nt have used the flash).

That's ok John, I find it hard to capture the true color of these phals using a camera too. The color does look quite intense, but it may not be the true color as you pointed out. As with the name it is at times a bit of a mystery when orchids are registered, as often a lot of hybrids have a bit of personal story behind that we might not know of, but that should not affect our appreciation of the plant.
I would like to see it again too when all the blooms are opened.

a very pretty one, similar to the one i put on FB a while back, except it was a lot darker and the lip was almost a deep DEEP purple or black....

Love the colour of this phal orchid - can't say the same for the name.
