Difficulity growing Phalaenopsis Orchids

I have difficulty in growing phalaenopsis. I have them as seedlings. At the moment I have them on my windowsills in the kitchen. As I live in Melbourne therefore in summer I water it throroughly once a week and it has been going on OK for a year now and suddenly the leaves turn yellow and drop it. Why does it happen like this? Can someone help?

Check the roots. Any way it's time to repot - a year in the same medium for phal seedlings is too long. In the commercial farms it's 4 months for phal seedlings.

It could be that the medium has remained too wet for a long time and started to break down as Yew pointed out. If you can post a picture of the orchids that would give us more information on what possibly is going wrong. I grow my phals on a north facing window sill in Melbourne too, and mine are doing really well and they bloom regularly too.

Probably a root issue as stated by the other members. A photo of the orchid's roots out of the medium would be helpful.

Thanks for the advise. Will check the root system and will repot into new potting mix. I have potted these seedlings in the mix of 1 part of small bark, 1 part of small charcoal and 1 part of scoria for a year now, should I change it to something else. Will take photos and post it next time.
