Not a good name at all, I don't think. Waxy, yes - like many of these new biggish vandas, with (I darkly suspect) deliberate chromosome doubling by some nasty colchicine or the like action, ( seesms to be quite different when they do it to cattleyas, which keep their tissue like texture ? ) , so waxy , yes.... but violet blue ? Not in my eyes. A nice colour it is true, or would be even more so if it wasn't that I have several other Vandas and Ascds of similar colour out at present, as indeed shown here ( Yeo Geck Bee to name but one ). But Blue ? Not what I'd call blue.
I do long for a true blue like my coerulea......back to the drawing board, or rather the crowded sales table at the next big show .

No, doesn't look blue, but it has awesome colour, form and texture. As you are well aware colour is also dependent on many other factors like light, environment and culture, may be next time it is better colour, more to your pleasing, and if it still fails, Bremen is not far away LOL !

Correct me if I am wrong, but in my somewhat limited experience there are more vandas with 'blue' in their names than actually usually occur in reality. I see a lot of purples or variations their of, but few true blues.

I agree with you, Al. They keep calling the darker violet ones "blue". Why don't they just call them "violet"?

It's maybe not blue, but I like it anyway. Pretty colour.

I think this is a kind of 4n specimen that usually produces bigger flower than its 2n counterpart.

It may not be blue but I love the color, form and texture on this one....

No, not a blue orchid, but still a great color and the patterning in the orchid bloom (guess that is called tessleation) is so pretty.
