Phalaenopsis: Visible Problems, Help Requested

Hi,

my neighbor has asked me to save her two Phalaenopsis orchids, that's why I am posting here.

Both plants seems to die, many leaves have died already, the remaining appear wrinkled. Both plants are located in a shady area (50% light) at a temperature of around 29°C to 35°C (Jamaica), and are being watered daily (but not over-watered).

If you require more information to assist us, then please let me know. We hope you can tell us what has to be done.

Looks like root rot has caused the dehydration. Check out the root system and repot.

Agreed, i had that problem with two i was given. the previous owner had them sitting in water for weeks and couldnt figure out where the fungal smell was coming from lol. i cut off the few larger leaves to reduce transpiration and left 2 small leaves on each.

Did you repot these phal orchids, Sven? How did they turn out?
