Purple streaks on Pearcei

My new (I've had it 5 weeks) Pearcei has a shoot and while it has not gotten any taller in that time, it is developing purple, "veins" on what I'm assuming will be the petals. Is this normal?
I'm a bit paroniod about this plant because I'm a relative beginner and this is very different from the 5 others I have - primarily in the huge amounts of water it seems to crave. The more I water it, the better it looks. I'm sometimes watering twice a day and have it in a saucer with pebbles and water and it's on a humidifier tray.

Can you post an image? I have Phrag. pearcei but never paid much attention until the blooms were fully open. As far as watering, it all depends on the potting media. For example, if it is potted in a medium size fir bark mix, then yes, it probably will need to be watered very frequently compared to a much finer mix which Phrags do prefer.

cooperating. All that comes up is one (I'm trying to post 4) img line. When it asks for "the URL of your photo" is that the Photobucket location?

This instruction is for Flickr, but photobucket should work nearly the same way. At least you can see what the photo url looks like. Attaching photos through URL

Thanks B.D. But first, being a Mac I don't have right or left click and when I go into Photobucket it all looks similar to what you're discribing, yet different.
I'll keep trying. Hope I get it before all my Phrags are in bloom and it's a moot point - (ya, sure Bob!)

Hi Bob,

Sorry I don't have a mac computer to help you with this. Basically, you need to get the actual URL of your image (the part address that ends with the .jpg or .pgn or .gif) That should do it.

It almost worked. I had to edit out the embedded link. Be sure to use the Img code button instead of trying to make a link or it will not show until edited.

I guess I'll just have to do this one at a time for now. This is what I'm most concerned with. This Pearcei has developed those purplish streaks.
Is that just the color of the bloom developing? Also - I know orchids grow slow, but - I've had this almost 6 weeks and the bloom has grown, maybe, 1/16".
Is that normal?

I keep finding different ways of doing things like sizing, coping etc., in Photobucket. I hope this is a little better.
These streaks developed quickly a couple of weeks ago. They were pretty severe for a few days, but as I increased the water, they deminished. Now they
seem to be on hold, getting no worse but no better. What is it and how can I get rid of it? Thanks

I wouldn't to be to concerned about the streaks. Note that the bloom itself is lightly streaked. All I can guess at this point is the plant hasn't fully adapted to it's new environment yet. Do keep us posted, Bob.
