Default Hwra. Lava Burst 'Puanani' AM/AOS

(Hwra. Mini-primi x Rdza. secunda) A small plant, only about 7" tall. The spikes are about 18" tall. Very much looks like a Cattleya plant wise. The blooms are very small only about 3/4" wide x 1" tall. I really don't know anything about this plant, so any help would be appreciated. The vendor said it needs phal. light levels in a finer type mix. Take Care, Rich

Hi, I grow mine much as I do all my oncidiums. I give them light just a bit brighter than for phals. I water twice a week in summer and once a week to 10 days in the winter. I grow it cool in winter and am rewarded with good bloom. Your plant is very nice and am sure you will have great success with it. I also fertilize it weakly three times a month and flush it the fourth week. Hope this helps. You are really developing a great collection, Rich.

I would give it oncidium light as Bill suggests. Phal light will not get it to rebloom.

    Cheers,

Hmm...my poor Lava Burst must be a mutant. I grow it next to my regular cattleya, water it the same. And I just separated it as some pbulbs were climbing up each other. I repotted it into a large basket as it throws roots everywhere and I even used my cattleya potting mix. They grow like weeds here pretty much.
