Hi folks, just to share with you this is not my plant, belong to my close friend which will give me the keiki soon. This is species from Philippine belong to Aerides family I never seen this one before the leaf is very huge and thick with beautiful flowers and nice scent.I need the ID thanks for looking and your comments.

I can't help with the name either...just wanted to say how pretty those flowers are. I've looked at a few aerides online, are they similar in their growing needs to vanda?

Hmmmm ..... I've never seen a Philippine aerides species that looks like this before. I have a strange feeling that this might be a hybrid of some sort.

The purplish color of the flowers give me a hint that it has some Aerides leaana (jarckianum) bloodline in it but the size are way too big to be it.

I second it, I have never seen anything like this one before, a combination of my crispum and odoratum might look like this. The also has some features of Rhynchostylis. May be a natural hybrid.

Yes, might be a hybrid. The petal and sepal behavior calls to mind a Rhynchostylis, and the labellum lateral lobes are too large and prominent for an Aerides. Zainal, could you tell me exactly from which grower in the Philippines did you acquire this?

Wally my friend couldn't recall cause more than 5 years apparently it's come in bundle he cant remember exactly from which grower.
Personally I think it's not species the character of the plant and flower totally different.
