Gopher
I have caught hundreds in my day but the coloration on this one is unique. I have never seen white on any gopher, ever, not even in photos. Anyway, this one was in my lawn and is about 9 inches/17cm long. About average for the local gophers. He was so odd looking that I showed my wife and children. Upon seeing his uniqueness, they forbade me to kill it and I was forced to release into the wild down the road. No doubt his kin will move in in a few years and take his place.

too funny...he's half and half....I've never seen a picture of one! Don't think we have those running around my neighborhood.

Interesting! Though unfortunately for the gopher, its unusual coloration could very well be the death of it. It's hard to blend in with the grasses and leaves when you have a big splash of white on your back.

We dont have armadillos here, I would gladly trade one for a skunk though. I have those also.

They spend almost all their lives underground terrorizing the roots of all my plants. Yummy ones they drag into their burrows and feed the little ones. My cats hunt all day and catch one or two a day every day.

I have seen them only twice in my lifetime. Both times I tried to drowned them out of their tunnels and it worked surprisingly well X 2. I have heard of a man who used dynamite to get rid of a gopher. It destroyed much of his front yard as I remember, but the gopher persisted. AL
