My poor orchids are flooded due to typhoon Pedring.
Is there any possibility for them to Survive?????
Wow!Sorry to hear that, Vangie! Orchids are pretty tough plants so there is hope. I imagine the determining factor will be how long it takes the flood waters to recede.
My heartfelt sympathies, Vangie. As Pavel says orchids are very tough, so if the flood waters recede within a few days it would cause minimum damage. Is this the same typhoon as Nesat? Saw the damage done by Nesat on the Tv news and our sympathies to the people affected.
thank you for the sympathy. I'm hoping that they will survive although some of them are already under water since yesterday. I hope the water will subside anytime soon.
@ cattan, yes it is typhoon nesat.
Terrible to see, but I think your orchids will survive - even if they spend a few days underwater.
That is such a scary sight.
I am more concerned about the people though, as tropical orchids are used to these conditions.
The orchids you have are accustomed to heavy monsoons and flooding, so a few days underwater would be OK for them (that's not seawater, right?) .
They might show some wear and tear as a result, but I don't think they will have severe and permanent damage.
As Pavel said though, it ultimately depends on how long they stay submerged.
I see a bridge in the background, is the flood due to the river overflowing?
Oh my word! What a sad sight that is! I hope your plants will survive the floods. I also hope that you and your neighbors will remain safe and healthy throughout this. Our thoughts will be with you all...
Oh! I'm so sorry for the floods. Hope yr orchids will survive. Take care.
Thank you for your concern guys, it is well appreciated.
@wetfeet 101b, to answer your question, yes it is due to the overflowing of the river due to typoon pedring (nezat). It did severe damage in our country especially in the northern and central part. Its flooded everywhere.
@CJ corner, thank you. I hope and pray that everything will be back to normal in few days time.
@sherene, thank you also. i hope my orchids will be fine.
Hi Vangie,
be hopeful as they will survive the flood, I think minor orchids number are just affected (just those plants sittingin water).
From where are you located in pampangga?
i frequently go there, in Guagua Pampanga.
