Fertilize year round?

I have always fertilized my plants throughout the year, allthough diluted in the winter months and have pretty good results. I have read about people not fertilizing during the winter months or also when plants are in bloom because it is not absorbed during this time. I was wondering if I could get some feedback from members with their fertilizing regimen.

I decrease my fertilizing during the winter. I fertilizer every two weeks instead of once a week and I use a lighter dose. But if your fertilizing regimen is working well for you, I wouldn't change anything.

Living in Texas,it's fairly nice all year round...Thus, I fertilize every week, with one fourth of what the directions say to use. Once a month, I use just plain water. And, I always use tepid water. Seems to work...Betty :- )

I fertilize every week, year round, but once a month I wash the medium and roots thoroughly with distilled water, to get rid of the fertilizer deposits.

I opt for no fertilizer Nov. Dec and Jan, but i do use tonic Seaweed Extract once or twice a week as it seems to promote, sustain,maintain and encourage root growth. This action was implemented because I am super brilliant at rotting roots even with mounted plants, but this has lowered my plant mortality rate.

However there is no evidence to suggest that if i fertilized as normal or at a reduce strength year round the outcome would be better or worse. It was simply a choice i made in response to research.

Ironically I have plants that choose to flower or put on healthy new root/ leaf growth during rest period regardless of temps, daylight hours, fertilizer and altered frequency in watering.

One thing i can agree with though is the necessity to flush pots/ media with plain water regularly during fertilizer sessions as the build up of salts etc is toxic or risky in the least.
