Today I visited house-plant tree-shrub nursery. You probably know what did after hearing "house-plant" Oh-oh! So I as walked along the nursery, I saw ORCHIDS ORCHIDS ORCHIDS!!!!!!!!! You know so I ended up bringing well, 'Four home'...
So the names are...
Encyclia Garciana; I think it was reclassified to Prothechea Garciana
Pot. (Potinara) Love Avenue "don't know cultivar because it was hand written"
Masdevallia gold dust
Onc. Twinkle
Den. Aprichart Rainbow
They were in bloom "They didn't have any that weren't"
AND, I saw a beautiful mounted cattleya in bloom and It was a PERFECT SPLASH PETAL of peach, purple and white. I asked if it was for sale. But he said no, because the plant got severe root rot. WELL, 30 minutes later he walked over and said "I did a cutting of the cattleya you wanted and it only has 1 root but there are other roots coming out" So I accept the plant and thanked him. GUESS WHAT, ONE OF THE 2 BIG BULBS HAD 6 GIANT FLOWERS ON IT!!! So, when I got home I instantly re-potted it in moss wrapping around the roots and fine orchid bark mix. I also cut the flowers and put them in a tray of water.(Obiously the flowers would be stress.) So my Happy orchid shopping-day was over. I think my policy is not working, I think my policy from now on will just be " 3 orchids per month maximum" I didn't buy any for 2 months for I got 4 and 1 free!
Also, my house smells like a candy factory, my Enc. Garciana smells like coconut candy (so does Maxarallia tenfollia) Onc. Twinkle smells like maple syrup, My Eplc. May bly ching hua splash smells like lemon and lime candy.Lc Bob pussavat smells like caramel...
