    Default Phals with both primary and secondary spikes.

    I have several phals that had finished blooming and started a secondary spike....and then once that got 2-3 inches long, started new spikes as well.

    I am trying to decide whether to cut the secondary spike, and let them throw all their energy into the primary spike? Or whether to assume the plants know what they are doing, and just let them bloom?

    Thoughts?

    Honest, in less they are weak I would leave them for a wonderful show of good growing!

    Yes, they all seem healthy & happy. Maybe I gave them too much superthrive?

    I am guessing that if I leave the secondary spikes, I will have more flowers, but possibly would have bigger flowers if I cut the secondary spike?

    Yeh i feel the same...if the orchid is in very good health,then leave it be....at least you will have some wonderful blooms to look at.

    If it's healthy with firm leaves i'd let it do it's thing. Sounds like you have one happy phal on your hands. It's getting ready to show you what great care you have been giving it.
