My plant - mentioned in the other thread on the same species - duly arrived - just after my last posting, and turned out to be in flower. Only 5 or 6 inches high ( the plant) but what can I expect for less than 2 US dollars plus postage - bought from you know who ( I couldn't possibly say) except that it was an auction , where I was the only bidder....
Nowhere near as nice a plant as the one which started the other thread. But the only Acampe I have seen on sale since my interest in other Vandaceous plants blossomed a year or more ago,and beggars can't be choosers .
What fantastic flowers, if your eyes are good enough or your magnifying glass is good enough - the flowers are a full 5mm across I would guess (!) . If your eyes are tired old ones like mine, then you need Mr Nikon and his amazing macro lens - or some equivalent. I turned it to manual, set it to extreme magnification ( which would be 1:1 on 35 mm film, but may be 1.6:1 on digital - (I get confused as to which way the repicrocal works here ) moved in until it looked sharp, set to f48, auto exposure, and used the built in flash .
The lip reminds me of Santa Claus beard !
