repotting Phal after purchase.

Here I am, a guy who considers himself a fairly good grower, yet I don't follow my own advice and paid the price. Just before the holidays, I had found a mini Phal with a variegated edge, at the local big box store. I don't need another orchid at the moment but thought this would look nice in my reception window counter. I know that many of these are not properly potted. They are either too tight in the pot or wrong medium, ect. I didn't take the time to repot and just tossed due to rot.

Oh Ron, hope it wasn't expensive. I really would like to get one of the variegated leaf phals, just haven't been around any to purchase just yet.

Bruce, I don't think it was more than $10. A batch of Phals came into a local big box store and there were 2 variegated-leafed ones among them. I grabbed one, hard to resist..hahaha. I had a Phal bellina coerulea that I lost...now that one hurt. If I see another, I will let you know

I recently bought a nice phal...same, big box sale. This one came in a glass container and it looked so pretty. I finally repotted it today and it's a good thing, the roots were starting to go bad. They had shoved so much spag into the glass container I couldn't pull it up until I removed a 4 inch pot worth of it out. It even looks happier in the new clay pot. lol Sorry to hear your's didn't make it. I'd suggest a replacement to help make you feel better....

Ditto to the others, can't find any 'strip leafed' one here, OO they are hard to resist...
