Default A cute little Oncid. alliance NOID

Phillip convinced me to get this little one about 2 months ago. It stands about a foot tall and I suspect the two inflorescences it has probably constitute its second (maybe third) blooming. The blooms themselves are a little over an inch wide. I'm not crazy about the white and maroon coloring, but the blooms are very round and flat. The only tag it has says "oncidium" (thanks a lot - that was helpful...), and the more I look at different oncid. intergenerics, the more confused I get.

Not holding my breath for someone to recognize it, but it would be nice.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying its cuteness....

I have no clue but I love it! The crispness of the colors and the contrast are just beautiful! I really wish more onc/intergenaric hyprids had this color combo. Is it possible Odontoglossum ?

Very pretty Maura. I think it's an Odontocidium - if the colour had been yellow instead of white I would have thought it was Odcm Wildcat.

Thanks, Yew - I agree that it has the markings and shape of some of the Wildcats I've seen - mine's a bit smaller, but that could be its extreme youth. Did you know that Colmanara Wildcat is now Oncostele Wildcat? That's a new one on me. I just looked it up on OWiz. Why can't they just leave well enough alone? I can hardly keep up with all these name changes on top of all the other new things I'm learning about growing orchids.

    Hoping you're having a lovely day -

    Maura

Yes, I agree with Yew Sung. I believe it is an Odontocidium.

I wish these would grow in my area. We just get too hot. When you see these grouped together they are like a psychedelic artshow. They all have trippy colors and mesmerizing patterns.

I know a few of the different clonals of Tahoma Glacier - and I've had a couple (lost last October), but, unless their blooms double or triple in size as they grow older, this one is really small to qualify. I agree, though, that the colors are very similar. Who knows? Anything is possible.
