this plant came with the tag name Catasetum longifolium but after looking at the blooms, i was thinking Catasetum roseoalbum. any opinion is greatly appreciated here.
Catasetum roseoalbum (catasetum discolor x longifolium) is one of the several accepted natural hybrids of catasetums. Roseoalbum the name means the pink and white catasetums, which IMHO is aptly name after (can see from the pics below)
the spike is very long, about 28inches and three quarter but however the flowers are relatively small for such a big plant. the blooms are 1.5 inches in height and 1 inch across.
slightly disappointed by this because i am dying for a longifolium but i guess it is still a new addition to the collection list.
