Lightbulb started experiment with a rootless cymbidium

    Hello
I just strated a new experiment
One of my friends got a division from a dark pink cymbidium
it wasn't doing well so we checked the roots, they were all rotted
So I said i give it a try,
I cut off the dead roots, aplied some clonex, and put the palnt in coconut fiber drenched in rooting sollution
it is inside now, in my brightess spot, around 20- 23 C, and I mist it daily. it didn't turn yellow yet so I am hoping for the best
    keep you posted

well I used the same formula as for my rootless miltoniopsis, which is growing 2 spikes now
the only difference is that I mixed the coconut fiber with perlite
here is the initial photo, the starting point so to speak
    plant looks kind of floppy

    I can't attach the photo
    I will try later

The new roots should grow back just fine. When I moved from CA to Hawaii and brought 50 plants with me I chose to cut off all the roots instead of removing the coco chips (a requirement to import to Hawaii). All the plants grew new roots easily.. So good luck but you probably won't need it!! Cyms are hardy. Give them light, water and food and they grow!!
