    Default ranthera... mutant but i LIKE IT

    couldnt help but post this, a few of the flowers had fused sepals that i thought were WAY cool... a friend just gave me this plant and beings that i already have one very similar... i wish all the flowers on it were like that

    Very beautiful! I've always wanted a Renanthera...I envy those who can give them the right conditions! Good growing And the fused sepals are definitely interesting.

    How cool! What caused the sepals to fuse like that?

    I suspect that it is not a mutation at all - if it is, then all the flowers will be like that in the future . It is just that the flowers did not develop perfectly as the buds grew, in which case they will come right next time. I guess most people with large collections will have something similar many times in many different orchids.
