Help!! Black spots on leaves..

Hi all,

I recently bought a pot of orchids, green dendrobium i supposed.
It has lots of black spots on every leave which is very unsightly. but the guy at the shop told me that its very natural to have the black spots. Is it true cos i read on the net that black spots are normally due to fungus all too much sunlight.
I have attached two pictures along with this.

Is not true dont listen to them I agree with you the black spots could be secondary infections as a result from what ever reason frankly speaking is not that easy to eradicate I also got the same experience usually I will revove or cut the affected side of course looks very ugly but the most important you should be able to save them, dont forget to spray antifungi after you cut them this base on my observation.

i cant cut or remove the leaves...because its on every single leave..i believed the man because the stems were really thick and strong, he said thats more important and told me to just ignore the black spots on the leaves.

Never mine you wait the next generation of leaves if still got black spots you know what to do mean while you just spray with fungicide hopefully it will work for you put finger crossing I hope one day your leaves will be cleared like the photos below.

On Oncidium alliance orchids, it's common to have small black spots (looks like freckling) on a lot of the leaves. That's just how they are when they get a lot of sun. This however does not look like it's "normal" and I haven't heard of Dens having this issue. I hope someone with more Den experience can identify exactly what's wrong and how to treat it, but it doesn't look good. Best of luck to you!

Ok this is from a site I found, not sure how long you saw the spots or if any symptoms are familiar but at least this is a start.
Symptoms of Phyllosticta Leaf Spot Guignardia and Phyllosticta spp.
Symptoms: Spotting from Phyllosticta may start anywhere on the leaf or pseudobulb. The lesions are tiny, yellow and slightly sunken. As they enlarge, they become round to oval and more sunken, especially if the infection is on the leaves. With age, they turn tan to dark brown and develop a slightly raised, red to purpleblack margin. Eventually, tiny black, raised spore structures develop in the center of the spots. Individual spots are about ¼ in across. Severely infected leaves may drop prematurely. Its presence may indicate insufficient light. This blight is also known as Guignardia; the names apply to two different sexual stages of the same fungus.
Treatment: Remove infected leaves with a sterile instrument and reduce leaf wetness. Spray with a systemic fungicide such as thiophanate methyl (Cleary's 3336) or a protectant fungicide like Mancozeb, following label instructions. Alternate systemic and protectant fungicides.
Will be keeping an eye out for anything else to help you out, good luck.

thanks guys! i dont know how the spots actually develope or grow. beacuse it was already with that much black spots when i bought it 3 days ago. the black spots are practically on every leaf.
Only the leaves looks very disturbing. Everything else is good, the stems are thick and strong, flowers are beautiful..
what a waste!
