Phal leave problems..wilted & turning yellow

I desperately need advise for my phal. I have two phals at my office and several at home. In the past month, one of the one's at home passed away from crown rot. It prompted me to do phal research and seek help. Now all my phal's are in proper pots w/ ventilation. Now I thought all my phals were fine, until I got to the office this morning and my two year old phal is sick. The leaves are wilted, soft to the touch and the steam went from nice green last week to orange & dry this week. Also, I have an arial root that was nice and green..now is drying out fast. I got really alarmed about the changes in my phal, since the leave signs are very similar to the one of my deceased phal. I repotted it last months and cut off some of it's roots that were rotted. I soaked the roots on cosan 20 to prevent infection and soaked the spag as well. I did not continue to soak it because it looked fine. Now, I plan to cut the stem and soak it again in cosan 20 and see if that helps...Any other ideas before I accidently kill another phal.

Most likely the roots of your orchid are rotting due to the sphag. My advice is to repot in a bark mix so that you do not over water your phal orchid. Here is a video we made showing how to take an orchid from sphag to bark.

Sounds like they are affected by the recent repotting. Stress causes them to abort flowers and spikes. Like Bruce said check for rotting of roots and let us know what is going on in those pots.

So here is the update on my poor baby, I took the advise and check the roots and they were all gone. I'm devastated, this is the first orchid i got . any advise on how to help my baby. So far, I'm thinking about keeping it moist and spray its aerial roots daily. I don't know what else to do. I noticed it has two buds in the side of the leaves, they look like aerial root..but I just dont' know if it will make it

Don't be too upset you can only learn from it . That's is how we get better at orchids. Phals are actually quite determined survivors and I'm sure yours will recover from this it will put out lots of roots from now on to recover. Try the spag and bag technique there is a thread on it do a search . Good luck

I would suggest soaking it for about 10 min. in hydrogen peroxide.... then leave it unpotted for a couple of days.

I heard about that and I was going to do it, but I really don't know the proportions. Do you know if I need to dilute the hydrogen peroxide in water or can i just use it directly.

oh... i almost forgot... I soaked my baby phal in physan 20 this morning for about 30 min...Should i use peroxide on the same day or just wait.

I've always used it directly.... Many times I just even pour in the pot instead of fungicide. If you've soaked your plant already in physan I would say Hydrogen peroxide is not necessary...
