Paph leaves?

I could have had bad luck, but it seems that my cool growing Paphs seem to always have stuff going on with the leaves. A little spotting here, a little browning there, etc. As I am learning through time and much faster by reading posts here, not all stuff on leaves is a problem. But how much stuff is too much stuff? Sorry if this is a weird question...I can't stop getting nervous about any odd looking things on the leaves, and when I look up photos on-line I almost never see the plant itself. I will post four example photos of what I am talking about.

The piccie with the new leaf with marks on is a little suspect , the other piccies look pretty normal(bit of sun burn & a bit of fert burn) , no idea with the new leaf with marks.

Thank you for your reply. Paphs are amazing plants with amazing flowers, but I am so inexperienced with them and they become such big and wild looking plants...anyhow thanks.

Looks like fungus. Cut off all infected areas with 1" additional of noninfected, cauterize the ends or use sulfer powder. Treat the plant with fungucides, phytowhatever 20 doesn't work as a killer of anything, just pour it down the drain.

Hi Jenn,

Ditto to what everyone else has said so far... the first pic looks like usual leaf getting old, the second one shows the upper leaf with the dark tip so that is salt build up, the third pic with the long dark band could be sun burn, but the baby leaf is a fungal infection.

Follow Steve's direction on treatment, and with regards to what to use, I use Mancozeb Plus or Eco-Carb.... course you will also read in some places to seal the cut with cinnamon... if you have a couple of plants you're treating and feeling like experimenting.. see what works in your condition.

What do you use? I haven't heard Physan doesn't work before, it's what I use...

Different people have different experiences. Don't throw the Physan out yet.

I've used it quite successfully when applied as directed. Although, if your plant has crown rot, physan may not help. But cut back that leaf and treat the whole plant with Physan. Keep and eye on it. If it looks like the fungus is still about, think about one of the fungicides. Google Orchid Fungicide. Cleary's has been mentioned often, I haven't used it, but I hear it is very effective but quite expensive. Maybe PM Louis and see what he thinks...

whatever you end up treating it with, fungi are often associated with suboptimal air movement. don't know where you're located, or where you grow, but when it gets hot & humid, you really need the fan to help prevent the spores and crap from settling on the leaves.
