Ascocenda Ladda Gold and Christieara Sharifa Alsagoff

I've been fighting rot since the storm and haven't had much time to post pictures. As you can see, both of these spikes have been open for a week or so. The end of the Christeara spike aborted a few days ago, along with the spikes on three other vanda types. It's really hot and really humid and i'm spraying like crazy but even that isn't saving some. I went out today and did some re-arranging. I'll probably have a few more to do, but for now things are slowing down some. At least some of the flowers are making it...

Thank You. And in case any of you are noticing the name, I also have an Ascocentrum Ladda Gold. And the flowers are wayyyy different. I was intrigued with two plants having the same name and wondered if their colors were close. This one has many colors to it, where the Ascocentrum is more a pure orange. And the petals on this one seem to curl. They are most definitely very distinctive in spite of the similar names.

They are very fun plants. Mine bloom about every 3 months or so. For being so small the fragrance is very powerful and to me reminds me of a man's cologne.

I've enjoyed your photos Connie and have lately imagined how difficult it can be at times raising orchids out of doors where nature has more or less total control. Even Florida's climate is not always ideal as per the storm you just came through. Nice to hear your gaining on the 'rot' situation and that all will soon be fairly normal again. AL
