I love Zygos their look is so tropical but I find their scent so interesting, a lot more delicate than the flower looks, if that makes sense, very nice
Thanks, Ed. Hey, I like your new pic...is that your dog? What is s/he wearing?
Beautiful.
It's nice to see such fine Zygopetalum flowers again. I would love to have a couple more of these, but I believe from my experience that they tend to prefer intermidiate temperatures or definitely on the cool side which I have a hard time providing. Please correct me if I'm wrong Kathi. Thanks for posting these beauties. AL
Kathi - so great to see a zygo photo! Does it have 'Artur Elle' in it? I've found - and I think Al is right about this - that they prefer cooler temperatures than I can give them in my windows. Doesn't stop me from buying one, though - if I see it I have to have it!
Maura: It does not have Artur Elle in its lineage, but they both trace back to the same ancestors: crinitum, maxillare, intermedium and mackayi.
Al: It (and Artur Elle as well) is recommended for cool to warm...both say "composed of species of which 100% take cool temperatures and 100% take warm temperatures. Grow this hybrid in cool to warm conditions, or 58°F to 75°F at night."
I grow them indoors, which makes it pretty easy to meet those nighttime temps here...although the sunroom may get warmer than 75 at times, it doesn't stay that way long.

Hi , I have had my zygo for almost a year . it keeps making new growth , but no flowers yet. I have it indoors , temp about 65 degrees and lots of light . So I'm patiently waiting. Maybe I will get lucky soon. Fran.
