Repotted Paphs
I need a glass of wine.
After much thought about my recent purchase of five paph seedlings, three of the most expensive orchids (paphs) that I have ever bought in my life, and my recent huge plant-of the-month acquisitions (also a paph) I decided to repot most of them.
Thank God in heaven for this forum's post on the subject and PaphMadMan's support, I made a mix of fine fir bark, charcoal, and perlite. Watered the Paphs with tepid water beforehand, and took a close look at the roots. I used the same pot they came out for the large ones, but moved the seedlings from a 2.5' to a 4". The 3' was too small in my opinion. Being very gentle with the roots, as if I were handling fine spun glass, I repotted all the seedlings and two of the expensive ones. My hart was pounding so hard I had to take a break...I'll save the others for next week.
The only mistake I think I made was that I packed the mix into the pot...Not as strong as the Cattleyas, but close.
Either they will flourish or die...I'll keep everyone posted.
