It isn't a species, Maurice. Phal Schillgig (the 2nd half should have been capitalized) = Phalaenopsis gigantea x Phalaenopsis schilleriana

    Nice fine spotting.

Thanks Pavel for the info. I was wondering if this was a newly discovered species.

Hi, lovely flower I am a newbee and was just going through the different pages here and came across yours, I have three phals that were flowering when I got them, but they were in a transparent pot filled with spagnum and I just wet them and realized that they were also in styrotex chips mixed between the moss, anyway I decided to repot them and then realized they had rotting roots, I was so mad cause they looked like they would die so (do not laugh) I talked to them and cut off the rotting roots treated with cinnamon powder and then put them into clay pots in the orchid potting mix, and kept them in a cool place by this time all flowers had dropped off, anyway they all are growing once again and one has a flower spike about five inches long, the others are getting new roots too, I read somewhere that the transparent pots are best so that the roots could get light, but I am so afraid of the plastic because here in the caribbean islands it is very hot at times and the plastic sweats, I have found that the clay pot works really well, also I use a bit of coconut chips mixed in with the charcoal and stones, I am posting the pics from the previous blooms, I know the names of two of them they were tagged properly, the one on the hight is chan xen diamond, the speckled one says hsin sesame, and well the other one on the left had part of the name missing but it ends with -------seamate, then I had another phal which eventually died there was no name tag and I want to get another like it I love that one because of the colour, it is the single picture if anyone knows what it is please reply, thank you
