Laelia anceps on tree fern ball

Hello everyone! I would like to share a little experiment of mine -- I came across a tree fern ball and I had a nice Laelia anceps division that needed mounting so I combined the two! Let me know what you think!

I feel like the tree fern ball may be a little small for the size of the division but as you can see the division is already rooting onto the ball so there's no turning back. I've never mounted one of these so I don't know how well it will hold to the mount. It's being held right now by nylon (pantyhose).

I have a plant I am getting ready to do that with. I hope we will be sharing pics of a ball filling up with new growth and beautiful flowers in a couple years!

It should be stunning in the future!I would take a length of heavy galvanized wire, run it through the ball making a bend at the bottom to feed back into the ball to secure it. The other end do a larger bend to hang it with. You can use the hanger to support the plant while it establishes.

Ron, I tried doing that exact thing! But it was nearly impossible to get the wire deep into the ball. It's very hard and dense, which I guess is good because it means it'll hold up for a while. So instead I took a rather large screw hook and screwed that into the top of the ball.
