    Default new stalk of flowers?

    I noticed recently of new growth that seems to be new stalk of flowers. But it is from the sides. Am i correct?

    And i also noticed that a root is growing up the plant. Should i be doing something about it?

    I can't tell by your picture what type of orchid you have. We would need that info to comment on flower spike. I wouldn't worry about the root

    The roots will do as they wish -- including driving you crazy. heh

    Ron is quite correct ... we need to know what type of orchid it is that you are showing us. That growth could be a flower spike or a new pb.

    Maybe this is a cymbidium back bulb. Not a flower spike - that would be a miracle. Sorry to disappoint you. Just nurture that new growth, and some small number of years down the line, the plant can be strong enought to flower for you.
