Lovely devil! Flower-life about typical for members of the Stanhopea family?

Some of these Sievekingias are lovely things. I was fortunate enough to see S.fimbriata in flower in the Monte Verde cloud forest in Costa Rica some years ago ... I have a plant in early bud now - fingers crossed - this is the second plant I have had, the first one turned out to be wrongly labelled, and although a Sieve' species, nowhere near as exciting.
I don't know if you ever get to see Orchid Digest ? There is a lovely pic on the front cover this very issue - landed in my mailbox only yesterday , of S.reichenbachiana , with flowers a little darker in colour than yours ; probably a true representation of the plant in question, since the photographer ( Ron Parsons) who is an old acquaintance of mine, is rather a purist in this connection.
A little known genus I think ; the people at Kew ( or maybe it is one of my paleontological friends) say it is an antecedent of Stanhopea - but rather preferable , in my prejudiced eyes.
Well done for growing it, showing it, and delighting us - at least me !

Thanks Geoff No I never have opportunity to see Orchid Digest , I agree with you S. fimbriata also is wonderful species under Sievekingia I was very unfortunate as I ordered a couple of years ago labelled as S. fimbriata after deflasked and the plant matured enough when the buds opened I'm very frustrated something that I already had again appeared in front of me just no luck.
